About This Spot
Stepping into David Chen in Armonk feels like entering a familiar neighborhood retreat where time moves at a comfortably unhurried pace. The atmosphere is warm but uncomplicated—a place where locals gather for a dependable meal that never demands pretense. There’s a quiet rhythm to your visit: friendly but efficient service, the subtle hum of conversations, and the clink of dishes creating a lived-in, welcoming mood that draws you back again and again.
Here, the experience unfolds around generous portions served with a straightforward sincerity rare in more polished venues. The menu’s breadth offers both longtime comforts and little surprises—a generous shrimp egg foo young that’s light and airy without excess oil, or a satisfying bowl of beef chow mein, rich in familiar flavors yet made with attention and care. It’s the kind of place where classic Cantonese dishes like chicken and broccoli or vegetable lo mein become more than just a meal; they feel like a small, thoughtful gesture shared across the table.
The decor and momentary quirks—the fish tanks in the corner, the quick but warm attentiveness of the staff, the casual bounce between tables—create a grounded, honest backdrop that matches the food’s straightforward nature. Whether it’s a quick solo lunch or a relaxed dinner with friends, David Chen brings a slice of reliable, home-style Chinese cooking to Westchester with a pace and atmosphere that invite you to settle in without fuss or rush.

Delicious Cantonese fair at this Armonk eatery. Everything was excellent, we had vegetarian hot & sour soup, vegetable lo mein and shrimp egg foo young. The egg foo young was packed with shrimp and light and fluffy, not greasy at all. A definite go back to try other menu items. Friendly service, plenty of parking.

Best Chinese Food in Westchester County, no contest. As a NYC native and recent suburban transplant, this restaurant is hallowed ground. Their Chicken and Broccoli is among the best I’ve ever had in NY State.

David Chen’s is a staple for American-Chinese food. Always fast and friendly service — free tea and fried chips. Extremely large menu selection with reasonable prices. Great lunch special too.

Update: Well, seems a different chef from years ago when i didn't enjoy the food. As an Asian descent, I know good Asian food. I am really so hungry and have no time to go to my go to Chinese place so I ventured back to David Chen to give it a try. I am glad I did. Their beef chow mei fun is spot on. And for Armonk, price is reasonable. Humongous serving size too plus soup included. Important to mention , it's not swimming in oil . Highly recommended. Previous post- 5 star for overall experience. I ordered my favorite chicken pan fried noodle and though taste isn't exactly I was used to , I enjoyed it a lot. Also, the size was humongous. Price was very reasonable. I was served tea with the biggest tea pitcher and ambiance was nice... like the traditional Chinese restaurant with big chandelier. Both owner and staff were very nice. Highly recommended.

David Chens has become a mainstay in the area. It's been around for over 30 years and it's some of the best Chinese in the area. Food is great. Service is quick if not a bit curmudgeonly and it has a great ambience. They should clean the fish tanks though! Try the pork and shrimp dumplings!
